Protest the Abomination
Manhigut Yehudit calls upon all Jews to whom Jewish values and the sanctity and integrity of the holy city of Jerusalem is important to participate in the mass protest against Thursday's threatened abomination parade. The protest is scheduled for Thursday at 5 p.m. in Jerusalem. Men will be meeting at Kikar Hameches toward the King David Hotel and Agron Street. Women will be meeting at Liberty Bell Park and Keren Hayesod Street. No violence is needed. All we need is for masses of people to come out and block the abomination parade by their very presence on the street. The protest is planned by the Jewish Home task force.

Separation or Chaos? Life or Collapse?

differentiationThe State of Israel has entered a sort of values vertigo. The heavens are the earth, the earth is the heavens, good is evil and evil is good. The first obvious expression of this vertigo was Rabin's handshake with Arafat on the White House lawn. It blurred the distinction between friend and foe, good and evil and justice and depravity.

"Behold, I have set before you today life and goodness, and death and evil."
(Deuteronomy 30:15)

There is good and there is evil -- and not as the paganistic post-modernism would have us believe. There is life and there is death.

Life is created by separation. The cell divides, differentiates and develops. The primordial default is death and confusion. In the beginning, there was chaos and disorder and darkness on the face of the abyss. Then the Creator of life began to make separations. Between light and darkness, between the sea and the dry land,  between men and women and between the nations of the world and the Jewish People.

Life is not static. In order to preserve life, we must always invest energy in making separations. Every mother knows that the natural condition of the house is "a mess" and how much energy must be invested on a constant basis to preserve the separation that transforms the mess into a living and functioning household. Death pulls us inexorably toward its depths. Materials that are not separated will mix together. If we want to keep them alive, we must invest energy to separate them. Chaos and disorder, the blurring of distinctions, the pagan enticement to give in to the whirlpool that draws the world down to its death -- are all forces that the Nation of Israel must face.

These forces of death always wrap themselves in an enlightened and preening cloak. They present themselves as the pure beauty of life. They speak in the name of order and civilization. But in truth, they serve chaos and disorder, darkness and death.

"Why did you insist on ruling that two men constitute a family?" Chief Justice Barak was asked. "If the homosexual partner is eligible for compensation, you could have awarded it to him on a regular contractual basis. Why mix laws of matrimony into the ruling?" In typical dictatorial fashion, Chief Justice Barak felt no need to explain. It is unlikely that he himself understands the forces that motivate him. But in essence, he used all the dictatorial tools that he had created in order to foster confusion. Confusion of values, confusion of sexual identity, confusion of the family unit, confusion of our national identity, confusion of our territorial borders, confusion of separation and return to chaos, disorder and death.

The chaos and confusion of good and evil into which Israel has plunged have a profound affect on our lives and well-being. Over the past week, we have seen the man most responsible for the dangerous security situation in Israel's north appointed to be Israel's Defense Minister. We have seen the man most responsible for Israel's deathly descent into the depths of Oslo elected to be Israel's President -- on the very day that his entire fantasy collapsed in Gaza. And we have seen the courts and police force a planned abomination parade in Jerusalem down our collective Jewish throat.

The solution to this disastrous state of affairs is obvious. The State of the Jews must become the Jewish State that it was destined to be. Manhigut Yehudit is working hard to achieve that goal.

Special Internet Feature

When Manhigut Yehudit was established seven years ago, its platform of Jewish leadership for Israel was met with a great deal of skepticism and the compassion generally reserved for unattainable dreams. Thank G-d, we've come a long way, and the conviction that Jewish leadership is vital for Israel has become the most realistic approach in Israel today. On the backdrop of the pertinence of Manhigut Yehudit's leadership message, the video "If You Will It, It Is No Dream" inspires us with the knowledge that the Jewish leadership alternative is entirely accessible and our only relevant option. Return of the Body Snatchers

zeitunBy Moshe Feiglin

22 Iyar, 5764
May 13, 2004

This article is translated from Moshe Feiglin's book, "The War of Dreams." It was written three years ago, after Arabs blew up an IDF armored carrier in the Zeitun neighborhood of Gaza and body parts of the IDF casualties were scattered in all directions. The local Arabs snatched the body parts and refused to return them to the Israelis. On the following day, an Israeli tank was blown up on the Egyptian border and once again, the body parts of IDF soldiers were scattered in all directions. Although the situation in Gaza and Israel's south has significantly worsened since then, the principle outlined in this article is entirely pertinent to our current predicament there.

"Cut off their water and electricity until they return the body parts," suggested Binyamin Netanyahu in the Cabinet meeting after the IDF's embroilment in Zeitun.

It's strange. Nobody in the government thought of disconnecting Gaza's water and electricity until they would relinquish all the weapons in their possession. Nobody thought of disconnecting their water and electricity to eliminate the necessity of sending our soldiers to fight in the heart of hostile and dangerous urban terrain. But at least they thought of cutting off their water and electricity until the body snatchers return the body parts.

There is a type of poetic justice in Israel's current predicament. We were not willing to fight our enemy -- including its women and children -- according to Jewish values. We were willing to endanger the lives of Jewish soldiers in the most Christian of wars against the most Moslem of enemies. And now we are forced to deal with the macabre consequences.

Two horrific events that occurred day after day have returned our soldiers deep into the streets and alleys of Gaza's hostile population -- but this time to search for snatched body parts. These two events bring us face to face with our decaying values.

The lives of Jews do not take precedence over the lives of the non-Jewish enemy as long as the enemy plays by the Western rules of the game; the weak side is the just.

Something here has gone awry. We are just and can disconnect their water and electricity -- but only on the condition that we are dead and scattered in pieces for half a mile in every direction. We are right only when we are dead. We even prefer to be dead. We are the Mother of all Christians.

And why did the soldiers enter the Zeitun neighborhood? Whey didn't they bomb the Kassam production workshops from the air? Because one floor above the workshop, there were "innocent" women and children. We cannot bomb innocents or even disconnect their water and electricity because of our Western values system.

And why did another five soldiers blow up on the Egyptian border the very next day? Because they were attempting to prevent the smuggling of weapons from Egypt into Gaza. The Egyptians allow the weapons to flow freely into Israel, but Israel is not willing to extract a price from Egypt for this calculated duplicity because it must maintain the illusion of peace. The Prime Minister even went one debasing step further and thanked the Egyptians, the primary cause of the death of our soldiers, for their help in gathering the body parts.

And why are our soldiers sacrificed to maintain the illusion of peace? If we dig deeply, we will discover that this is yet another symptom of the Jews' flight from their identity. It is a compelling example of the moral confusion in which Israel's leadership flounders -- with no marked attempt to extricate itself.

True Jewish leadership based on authentic Jewish values does not need horror photos to justify its actions. True Jewish leadership clearly identifies the good side and the evil side of every issue. It doesn't doubt who is right and what the right course of action is. True Jewish leadership acts in accordance with Jewish values and the Jewish ethical code and is willing to ward off the Western arrows of criticism -- because it knows that it is right.

True Jewish leadership is connected to reality. It understands that we are in a war and not in a low-intensity cops and robbers game. It acts accordingly, disconnects the enemy's infrastructure, destroys it and expels its remnants beyond Israel's borders.

"We would never think of doing anything illegal," the commanding officer of the Gaza region said after the Hatuel family was murdered. "The Supreme Court that does not allow us to destroy Arab buildings that provide hideouts for terrorists preserves our moral stature." Yet another chilling example of a dedicated yet confused officer who is willing to sacrifice his life and the lives of his soldiers on the altar of perverted values.

As long as the level of horror that reaches the television screens determines what is permitted and what is forbidden -- and not true Jewish moral analysis -- the IDF will continue to endanger our sons for nothing. And Israel's citizens will continue to be riddled with Oslo's arrows of death.

The first priority of the belief based revolution will be to overturn the Western values that we have adopted and that consume us on a daily basis. We have squeezed ourselves between the hammer and the anvil. The murderous Moslem hammer mercilessly smashes us. We could easily eliminate this hammer, but we insist on dealing with it from within the parameters of the Christian ethical anvil. The only way to free ourselves of its deathly grip is to reconnect to our Jewish identity and our own -- Jewish -- moral foundation.

Lessons of the Disengagement: Part 4

DisengagementTranslated from Moshe Feiglin's booklet, "One Year Later: Lessons Learned from the Disengagement."  Although another year has passed since the Disengagement, the lessons that we must learn from it are vital for our success in the future. Thus, the urgent importance of this analysis. Click here for the previous chapters.

Part 4: From Zo Artzeinu to Manhigut Yehudit

In 5752 (1992) the Labor party's Yitzchak Rabin became Prime Minister of Israel. Rabin's government subsequently initiated and signed the Oslo Accords, creating a fracture in Religious Zionism and threatening the settlements in Yesha both ideologically and practically. The Yesha Council organized a long series of demonstrations that attracted tens of thousands of Israelis. But even at that stage -- ten years before the Disengagement -- the settlers found themselves with "patriotic" leadership that was prepared to do everything
-- except win.

When the hopelessness of the established struggle became apparent, private groups attempted to create a more effective struggle. One of these groups was Zo Artzeinu. What set Zo Artzeinu apart from the other Right wing organizations was its emphasis on the fact that the State is meant to serve the nation and the land, and not vice versa. In keeping with this perspective, Zo Artzeinu adopted the principles of refusal to obey army orders and non-violent civil disobedience. On the 12th of Av, 5755 (exactly 10 years before the pogrom of Gush Katif) Zo Artzeinu brought 100,000 Israelis out to protest in the streets and intersections, paralyzing traffic throughout Israel. It was the most widespread civic struggle that the State of Israel had ever known. Zo Artzeinu leaders Moshe Feiglin and Shmuel Sackett were convicted of sedition and sentenced to jail terms.

Zo Artzeinu introduced a new perspective on the role of the belief-based public in Israeli society. It evinced a refreshing fighting spirit, leading its public struggle with the actual intention of winning. Secondly, it saw the belief based public as a potential leader on the national level and not just as a group of candidates ready to jump on the bandwagon being driven by others. This perspective was an important contribution to the Religious Zionist camp and paved the way for the establishment of Manhigut Yehudit.

Sometimes, Manhigut Yehudit's message pops up in the most unexpected places. The following is a quote from an analysis recently written by Leftist journalist Ari Shavit:
Believer

"It is now clear that a government without God is also a government without talent. Without a moral compass, without a political agenda and without a grip on reality."

(Ari Shavit, Ha'aretz website Iyar, 5767 April, 2007)
Primaries Soon

feiglinAccording to news reports, Bibi is interested in Likud primaries at the earliest possible date. His advisors reportedly feel that he has reached his peak, and the only way that he can possibly go from here is down.

Whenever primaries actually do take place, Manhigut Yehudit will be in the race. There is only one movement in Israel that correctly analyzes reality, fearlessly swims against the stream of fools -- even when that is most unpopular --  and also presents an authentic leadership alternative. That is Manhigut Yehudit. The first step, of course, is winning the rapidly approaching Likud primaries. When the Likud members hear what we have to say, they connect to our message. It is urgent to reach out to them now.

Shmittah Planting Deadline Nears

moshe plantsThis coming Jewish year -- 5768 -- will be a Shmitah (Sabbatical) year in Israel in which planting is prohibited by Jewish law. While the Shmitah year officially begins on Rosh HaShanah (Sept 13th) planting of NEW fruit trees must be done NO LATER than the 15th of Av (July 30th).

One of the most important things for Israeli farmers to do is to plant -- as much as possible -- BEFORE the Shmitah begins. Since they will not be planting for over a year, these trees will serve as their main income for many years to come. This unique mitzvah -- of planting on the eve of Shmitah -- comes just ONCE in seven years!!!

Manhigut Yehudit has taken upon itself to help many of the farming communities throughout Judea and Samaria during this time. The brave young men and women who live in these areas are working virtually around the clock getting their fields ready for full observance of Shmitah, according to the strictest guidelines of Jewish law.
You can help redeem the land, plant new fruit trees and provide a livelihood for many Jews. But you have to act fast. The July 30th deadline is not a joke or marketing gimmick. It is real. We MUST know ASAP how many trees you want to plant so that we can make all of the arrangements with our people in Yitzhar, Elon Moreh and other settlements. The earlier the better!

Please CLICK HERE to plant a tree before Shmitah.

A beautiful personalized - full color - certificate will be mailed to you.

Trees can be planted in memory of departed ones, in honor of family or friends or for any reason at all. Your certificate will contain the text you want and is suitable for framing.
Attention synagogues, families and communities:

Plant 100 trees and receive your own private vineyard or olive grove! A beautiful wooden sign will be placed at the entrance to the vineyard or olive grove with your name and special dedication.

For more information, please call Shmuel Sackett at (516) 295-3222 or email: shmuel@manhigut.org

Click here to plant your fruit tree NOW before the Shmittah year begins. HURRY!!!

Torah Sparks: Chukat

Red CowThe clean person shall sprinkle upon the unclean person... and he shall be clean at evening... [But] he that sprinkles the water of sprinkling... shall be unclean. (Numbers 19:19-21)

All who are involved in the preparation of the heifer from beginning to the end, become impure, but the heifer itself purifies the impure! (Midrash Tanchuma)

The fact that the ashes of the heifer "purify the contaminated and contaminate the pure" carries an important lesson to us in our daily lives: If your fellow has been infected by impurity and corruption, do not hesitate to get involved and do everything within your power to rehabilitate him. If you are concerned that you may became tainted by your contact with him, remember that the Torah commands the kohen to purify his fellow Jew, even though his own level of purity will be diminished in the process.
