Glued to Gaza |
|
It is clear now that the entire purpose of the "Disengagement" was to fulfill the leftist desire to drive the Jews out of Yesha. But while it is easy for Israel to expel its own citizens, it cannot disconnect from its enemies. Egypt supplies Gaza with approximately 50 tons of explosives every month (according to the head of Israel's General Security Service) as well as an unknown amount of guns, ammunition, missiles and more. For its part, Israel provides Gaza with everything else it needs to destroy our country; electricity, fuel, water (the Gazans polluted the ground water resources, so now they turn to Israel for water) and all the needs of the hostile population. Nobody asks why Egypt cannot provide Gaza with electricity. Nobody asks why it is Israel's responsibility to maintain its mortal enemies.
Nobody asks these questions because deep down, official Israel believes the Arab propaganda and has taken responsibility for its "crime," or in other words, its existence.
Those Israelis who have fled their Jewish identity actually believe that there is no justification for Israel's existence. They understand that they are living on borrowed time, agree with Ahmad Tibi, who was here before them and will be here long after they disappear -- and beg for a crumb of recognition for the "enlightened" world. Try to explain that to the children of Sderot.
Proposed Bill: Disconnect from Gaza
The following is the letter sent this week to all the Likud Knesset members explaining Manhigut Yehudit's proposed bill to disconnect from Gaza.
While the city of Sderot and the entire western Negev have been abandoned to continuous missile fire, Israel's government continues to attend to the welfare of the residents of the Gaza Strip. The residents of the Gaza Strip elected the Hamas leadership and they are enemies of the Jewish Nation and the State of Israel. This situation has not elicited a response from the opposition. Its silence serves to deepen the public's feelings of despair and helplessness.
The Opposition can work together to significantly help the residents of Sderot. The attached proposed bill is a viable tool with which to restore quiet to the residents of Sderot and its surroundings. This proposal is likely to be accepted by a majority of Knesset members, who will not want to create the perception that they care for the welfare of the residents of Gaza while Israel's citizen are abandoned.
We urge you to do all in your power to have this proposal passed into law as soon as possible. It is important for Sderot's children to know that someone cares for them more than for the children of Gaza.
With Blessings,
Moshe Feiglin Michael Fuah
Proposed Bill: Disconnect from Gaza
1. The State of Israel will have no interaction with Gaza that may assist it in any way.
2. It is forbidden for any Israeli official, corporation, company or citizen to transfer merchandise or goods of any kind, including electricity, information or medical aid to Gaza.
3. The State of Israel will unilaterally close all the crossings between Israel and the Gaza Strip.
4. A. Despite clauses 1-3, the government may allow those actions forbidden in the aforementioned clauses as long as the decision to do so will take place after at least ninety days in which no terror attacks or shooting of any kind have been directed from the Gaza Strip to Israel. B. The government decision as per clause 4A will be valid for no more than 14 days. The government may lengthen the validity of the decision for additional time periods of 14 days at most as long as the condition in clause 4A of this law is met.
5. Breach of this law either directly or by oversight will be punishable by three years in prison.
6. This proposal will become valid five days after it is legislated in the Knesset and will be publicized and registered by that time.

The Lion, the Buffalo and the Nation: By Moshe Feiglin |
Shvat, 5768 Jan., '08
Translated from the article on Israel's NRG website.
Amalek is Israel's quintessential Biblical enemy. Amalek is not just another conventionally cruel nation. Amalek is the essence of evil. The Torah clearly teaches that there is no room for Amalekism in G-d's world.
Amalekism is Darwinism; the survival of the fittest as a moral imperative. This is actually the basis of Nazism, and while it is not politically correct to say so -- it is also the basis of Islam. It is no coincidence that 'Mein Kampf' has remained a best-seller in Islamic countries.
With the appearance of Amalek on the Biblical stage, we are introduced to another concept, as well; vulnerability. Amalek attacks the freshly-liberated Israelites from the rear, concentrating on the vulnerable Jews. Amalek is actually the world's first terrorist. He doesn't face off with his enemy in battle. Instead, he attacks the vulnerable civilian stragglers, the weak sectors of society that are lagging behind. Terrorists unfortunately abound in the world. But they will only strike where they identify vulnerability. In other words, it is vulnerability that empowers terror.
My little son once showed me a fascinating National Geographic photo. It was an aerial shot of a huge herd of even huger buffalos, their menacing horns glimmering in the sun, running for their lives from two or three lions. It was an unbelievable sight. If the buffalos would have turned around to face their attackers, they could have crushed them with no further ado. But instead, they all turned their backs and fled, likely leaving a vulnerable buffalo or two -- possibly small or wounded -- straggling behind to be eaten by the lions. When the unpleasant affair is finished, all the buffalos return to their routine.
We do not interfere with buffalos and lions. But the continuous rocket attacks on Sderot and the apathy in Tel Aviv are disconcertingly similar to the above description, and most certainly warrant our attention. In other words, the fact that our society allows for the vulnerability -- currently in Sderot -- brings the terror attack upon us. The lions do not chase the buffalos away. Rather, the buffalos' lack of mutual responsibility abandons the vulnerable members of their herd and creates the opening into which the Amalek terror will inevitably enter.
The Torah promises us that when we are blessed, just a small number of Jews will triumph over multitudes of enemies, and vice versa. We all remember Israel's victory in the Six Day War and how Israel's army struck fear in the hearts of the vast Arab armies. But today, we are experiencing the opposite side of the coin.
In general, the "religious" answer to this situation is that when we observe the commandments we win and when we don't, we lose. Observance of the commandments of the Torah is essential, but the religious explanation is a bit lacking. The Jewish Nation did not observe more commandments before the Six Day War than it does today. So why did we merit the blessing then? And why do we hysterically flee our enemies today? (How many tanks are in the Hamas arsenal? How many planes are in the Hizbollah's fleet?)
The factor through which G-d blesses us with power of deterrence or cursed with trepidation in the face of our enemies is mutual responsibility. Simply put, if we have it, we are united and win. If we don't, we create vulnerability and lose.
In 1967, the factor that united Israel was Zionism. Then, that was enough to unite the nation and to empower it with the blessing of deterrence. But today, Zionism no longer unites Israel. We have become a herd of individuals -- buffalos fleeing every lurking danger. The only factor that can unite our nation once again is our Jewish identity -- the most basic, foundational ethos of at least 80% of Israel's Jews. If we will re-unite around our Jewish identity, our mutual responsibility will be re-awakened and the phenomenon of vulnerability will disappear. It is only then that we will merit the blessing of peace in the Land of Israel.

| How Israel Can Be Normal |
|
Since the founding of the State, the goal of Israel's leaders has been to make Israel a normal state like all other states. But currently, Israel's leaders do not even bother to provide their citizens with security -- the basic commodity that all "normal" leaders supply. Once again we see that those who attempted to establish a "normal" (in other words, anything but Jewish) state here and to run Israel's affairs according to "normal" standards, find themselves ruling Israel in an awesomely abnormal manner.
Paradoxically, in order for the State of Israel to exist as a Jewish state in the Land of Israel -- in order for it to have normal highways, normal internet, normal public transportation and a normal army; in other words, in order for all the normal systems common in a normal state to function in the state of the Jews, we must always remember that Israel is not a normal state. We must remember that Israel has a different, super-normal destiny and values system and conduct ourselves accordingly. A leader who does not understand this simple truth is doomed to abnormality in the negative sense, announcing a siege on Gaza in the morning and calling it off in the evening.

| The Problem with Winograd |
Everyone is anxiously waiting for the final Winograd report on the Second Lebanon War. In just a few days, we will all know exactly what mistakes were made. Was the source of the problem the defective decision making process? Or was it the fact that one soldier received two left army boots while the other received two right boots? Maybe the problem was that they didn't stop the war thirty hours earlier?
If these are the questions, then the Winograd Committee is not the solution; it is part of the problem! Instead of asking 'why,' the Committee asked 'how.' But Olmert gave the answer to the 'why' two weeks after the war began:
"Israel's victory in Lebanon will give Israel new momentum to separate from the Palestinians by evacuating most of the settlements in Judea and Samaria." (Ehud Olmert -- 8 Av 5766 - August 2, '06)
Olmert could not have had any serious intention of releasing Israel's captured soldiers or stopping the missile fire as he declared at the start of the war. You do not have to be a military analyst to understand that sending ground forces only one kilometer behind enemy lines (as was originally planned) while incessantly bombing from the air is not the way to release captives. Olmert's second excuse for going to war -- stopping the missile fire on Israel -- is also nothing more than deception. The Hizbollah shot missiles at Israel's northern border as a diversionary tactic while they kidnapped Israeli soldiers Regev and Goldwasser. After the abduction, the Katyusha fire stopped. Israel's military measures could not have been initiated to stop the missile fire, because there simply was none. In fact, just the opposite occurred. Israel's military measures brought about the missile fire. The Katyusha fire on Israel's north stopped 33 days later -- precisely when the IDF halted its attacks on Lebanon.
So why did Olmert go to "war?" Why were so many Israelis killed? Because Olmert understood that in order to survive in the mediaocracy known as Israel, a leader must follow in Sharon's path. Olmert wanted a military victory that would give him the leadership aura necessary to expel the settlers from Judea and Samaria. The Left would than worship him and he would rise to the status of unchallenged king of Israel.

Migron Residents Need Not Worry
(16 Shvat, 5768 -- Jan. 23, '08)
After the Prime Minister and Defense Minister announced to the Supreme Court today that they intend to destroy the Jewish settlement of Migron in just six months, Moshe Feiglin calmed Migron's residents and commented: "The Defense Minister's threat will not materialize because in six months from now, the Olmert government will not exist."
