Press Release
Nakbah Studies in Israeli
Schools
7 Av 5767 (July 22, 2007) In response to Education Minister Yuli Tamir's decision to include studies of the Arab Nakbah (catastrophe) -- otherwise known as Israel's War of Independence -- in Israel's Arab school curriculum, Moshe Feiglin says: The only logical conclusion to be reached from Tamir's decision to teach in some of Israel's schools that the Jewish victory in the War of Independence and the establishment of the State of Israel were actually a catastrophe, is that the State of Israel is an illegitimate and strictly temporary entity. With this decision, Education Minister Yuli Tamir -- one of the founders of Peace Now -- asserts that she does not identify with the Jewish claim on the Land of Israel any more than with the Arab claim. If we do not urgently provide Israel with leadership that honestly believes in the justice of our existence, Israel will necessarily be wiped off the map.
