I agree with you 100%. Charity start at home, according to halacha. We should take care of our own need first, and THEN we can help others. But we should NEVER do it for Public Relations purposes, because history shows that it doesn’t work.

I also heard you on Voice of Israel, and I found the interviewer extremely condescending. I wonder if he had a choice between Nepal or a Chasidishe Yeshiva, which one he would pick. I imagine that Nepal would be his first choice.
