Moshe Feiglin: Health Ministry Decision on Medical Cannabis Step in Right Direction
The Health Ministry has announced that soon, it will be enough for a family doctor to authorize continued use of medical cannabis. The new decision will save medical cannabis users the long wait for an appointment for the few doctors who are currently the only physicians authorized to prescribe the substance for patients. “This is certainly a step in the right direction,” said MK Moshe Feiglin, who has been advocating relaxation of restrictions on medical cannabis.
“The Health Ministry has actually adopted my claim that the Health Minister does not need additional legislation in order to allow the use of medical cannabis for Israel’s patients,” Feiglin explained. “This is the beginning of a revolution in the Health Ministry’s approach. I will continue to work on this issue until every ill person in Israel who needs medical cannabis will be able to get the treatment without impediment.”
“I endorse the Health Minister and the new director of the Health Ministry for this important step,” Feiglin continued. “I call upon them to complete the change by including more illnesses in the cannabis authorization, opening the market for additional growers and allowing pharmacies to sell cannabis in the same manner that any other narcotic drug is sold.”
